T-SQL Tuesday 169 – Thank you

It’s the end of the year, a time to reflect, look back and, as Kay Sauter asked, thank people.

As it’s easy to forget in our hectic days, a topic like this one is great to take a step back and think about it. I also find it quite difficult (perfectionist) as I don’t want to leave anyone out. So to prevent me from losing sleep over this I’m going to cheat a bit and generalise.

First, I’d like to thank my coworkers and manager who keep supporting me in new adventures and travels. Without you, I’d still only be doing remote talks to my camera.

Then the Microsoft data community (with all the Microsoft employees in it). You’ve made me feel welcome all the way.

Then the conference organisers, every single one of you putting in amazing hard work to create events, go through the speaker submissions, building interesting schedules. You’re doing amazing work for the entire community.

My most heartfelt thanks go out to the people who are taking care of my mother, now that she’s slipping away with dementia. They are doing excellent work to provide structure, fun and care. They make sure this last phase of her life is as human as it can possibly be. She’s safe and for us (family and her friends) a great relief. If you’re looking for a charity to donate to, the Alzheimer organisation is one to look into, though don’t forget the Leukemia Foundation Hugo Kornelis mentioned in his blog.

It’s easy to forget, but there’s a lot to be thankful for. Thanks Kay for bringing it up!

Thanks for reading!
